Cornwall Spring Flower Show
Cornwall Spring Flower Show is renowned for its wonderful displays –
with a wide range of competitive classes that include ornamental trees
and shrubs, magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons, daffodils, herbaceous
plants, bulbs, pot plants, alpines, photography and floral art. There
are also children’s classes and show gardens.
Held at the stunning Boconnoc estate, near Lostwithiel, the event was
first staged in the late nineteenth century and has continued to run
every year since – with occasional breaks for two world wars, petrol
rationing and – in 1947 – severe snow. At one time focused mainly on
daffodils, it now showcases a wealth of Cornish springtime shrubs and
flowers.
The 2014 Cornwall Spring Flower Show, sponsored by Atkins Ferrie
Wealth Management, will be opened by renown horticulturalist, TV and
radio presenter, Chris Beardshaw and take place on Saturday 5th and
Sunday 6th April. Advance ticket prices have been reduced to cost just
£6 (£8 on the day). Cornwall Garden Society members can buy advance
tickets for £3.50 and are eligible for a £2.50 discount on the day. |
